Saxco International Acquires Packaging Assets of Wine Bottle and Packaging Inc.

Saxco International Inc., world-wide packaging specialists for the wine and spirits industry, has purchased the packaging distribution assets of Wine Bottle and Packaging Inc. of Toronto, Canada, for an undisclosed sum, it was announced here today. Wine Bottle and Packaging is one of the leading distributors of packaging materials for the wine and specialty foods industries in Canada.

In making the announcement, Herbert L. Sachs, president of Saxco International, says that the packaging distribution business formerly conducted by Wine Bottle will be operated by Saxco Canada Co., Saxco International's subsidiary.

"In addition," he notes, "the acquisition coincides with Saxco International being appointed by Consumers Glass of Toronto as exclusive distributor for most of the wineries in Canada, outside of British Columbia."

"Both the acquisition and the exclusive distributorship arrangement will offer us the opportunity to greatly strengthen and expand our business throughout North America," Sachs notes. "We are very excited and enthusiastic about both opportunities."

"Also," he states, "the current management and staff at Wine Bottle and Packaging will remain in place and will be strengthened by additional hires."

Helder Teles Appointed Director of Sales and Marketing for Saxco Canada Company

Helder Teles has been appointed director of sales and marketing for Saxco Canada Co., a Saxco International Inc. subsidiary, it was announced by Bill Higginson, vice president and general manager of Saxco Canada.

Teles will be directly responsible for the overall day-to-day sales and marketing functions for the Canadian distributors of packaging materials for the wine and specialty foods industry.

Prior to being appointed at Saxco Canada, he was employed as purchasing manager for United Distillers in Toronto. Before that, he worked in various sales and marketing capacities for Consumers Glass, also of Toronto.

He received a bachelor's degree in business administration from York University in Toronto.

In addition, Teles serves as a director of the Ontario chapter of the International Organization of Packaging Professionals.

Married and the father of three children, ages 12, 10 and 8, he and his wife, Maria, reside in the city of Toronto.
