Saxco International Helps Enhance the Mystique
Surrounding Introduction of New Seagrams Bulleit Bourbon

Bulleit Bourbon In an effort to emulate a bygone eras standard for quality and taste in the spirits industry, Seagram has just announced the introduction of a new bourbon called Bulleit Bourbon in the United States.

Tabbed as a "frontier whiskey" and named for the Bulleit familys private recipe whose origin dates back more than a century and a half, the all-important packaging aspect of the marketing introduction called for an overall look reminiscent of Americas frontier days.

To help meet the packaging requirements for the roll out, Seagram enlisted the services of Saxco International Inc., Horsham, Pa., world-wide packaging specialists for the wine and spirits industry. "It was our job to further enhance the overall appearance of the package so that it closely resembled something from our countrys distant past," says Saxco Chairman Keith L. Sachs.

Saxco supplied a plastic stopper and cork, as well as a heat-shrink PVC capsule with super graphics, to fit a 750mL clear glass bottle. "One of the unique aspects of our role," Sachs explains, "was to simulate the old strip stamp appearance on the neck of the bottle. We accomplished this by using the super graphics on the PVC capsule."

The plastic top cork stopper was supplied by long-time Saxco vendor J.C. Ribeiro in Portugal, while the heat shrink PVC capsule came from a source in Belgium. The project took Saxco approximately eight months to complete.

According to Neil Gallo, Seagrams category director for North American Whiskies, "Initially, the Bulleit Bourbon will be marketed and distributed in the United States in select markets; however, we do anticipate a global opportunity in the future".
