Saxco International Delivers Innovative Packaging Solution for
Laird & Companys New Aged Apple Brandy When the oldest operating distillery in America,
whose beginning dates back to 1780, wanted to bring its new
honey-colored aged premium apple brandy to market, it knew it would
require some special creativity, experience and attention to detail.
Targeting an upscale and sophisticated U.S.
consumer audience, Laird & Company of Scobeyville, N.J., knew the
packaging aspect for its 12-year-old apple brandy would be paramount to
a successful introduction and subsequent distribution and marketing
campaigns.
To help accomplish the task of providing a distinctive
yet esthetically pleasing package, Laird called upon Saxco International
Inc. of Horsham, Pa., world-wide packaging specialists for the wine and
spirits industry.
Saxco International recommended and sourced the
750ml clear glass bottle and a wood top cork stopper. "The challenge was
to provide components that were economically feasible for the small
quantities required for this unique aged product," states Herbert L.
Sachs, president of Saxco International. "Fortunately, with the help of
our network of reliable sources from around the world, we were able to
meet all of Lairds packaging requirements."
The long-necked
clear glass bottles with an apple configuration were supplied by a
French manufacturer, while the mushroom-shaped wood top cork stopper was
supplied by J.C. Ribeiro of Portugal. Saxcos role in the products
packaging took six months to complete.
"The Laird family history
dates back to 1698 when William Laird, a County Fyfe Scotsman, settled
in Monmouth County, N.J., and began the production of AppleJack for his
own use. However, this is the first time that the distillery has brought
an aged premium product to the marketplace," Sachs relates. "We are
excited and delighted to be an integral part of this dynamic
process."
Saxco International has more than 20 years of industry
experience, providing a broad range of packaging products and services
