Saxco International adds a unique touch to packaging for New Jim Beam Vox Vodka

Jim Beam Vox Vodka Jim Beam touts its new Vox Vodka as an ultra-premium product targeted at an upscale consumer audience.

To help ensure the successful introduction of its new vodka, the company paid utmost attention to the details of its packaging design and production.

For package design, it engaged prominent New York City artist Laura Handler, known for her creative work in the jewelry, watch and fragrance industries. To help fulfill her mission to create a unique and sophisticated package resembling a quality normally associated with the cosmetic and perfume industries, she worked closely with Saxco International Inc., Horsham, Pa., world-wide specialists for the wine and spirits industry.

By meeting with the designer several times in advance of supplying the 750ml glass bottles and wood top cork stoppers, we were able to accomplish our role in an effective, cost-efficient and timely manner, explains Saxco Chairman Keith L. Sachs. The up front coordination and planning really paid off for everyone on the back end.

The bottles were sourced through Stlzle-Oberglas of Vienna, Austria, long-time suppliers to Saxco and the cosmetic and perfume trades. We selected them because of their fine reputation for quality, as well as their close proximity to the Netherlands where the actual bottling was being done, states Sachs.

The Netherlands was selected as the bottling site because of its 400-year history of vodka making, according to Sharon McLenahan who managed the marketing aspect of the Vox roll-out for Jim Beam.

In addition to the bottle, Saxco sourced and supplied a custom black wood top cork stopper through J.C. Ribeiro in Portugal.

Saxco also was challenged to provide a limited quantity of large size 600mm (approximately 2 feet tall) bottles, replicating the original 750ml design. They are to be utilized as part of purchase displays to further attract attention to the product at the retail level.

According to McLenahan, the Vox Vodka will be introduced into seven U.S. markets New York City, Boston, Washington, D.C., Chicago, Miami, Los Angeles and San Francisco. Eventually, it will be marketed throughout the United States and to overseas markets.
