In making the announcement, Herbert L. Sachs, president of Saxco International with headquarters in Horsham, Pennsylvania, says that his company sourced a special globe-shaped, glazed ceramic decanter which is being custom produced in central China for this super premium nine-year old bourbon. The ceramic decanter is glazed in a light blue and a cobalt blue. It also contains seven fired-on decals which enhance its overall decorative look. In addition, the commemorative decanter includes a pedestal base and meridian bracket which is an integral part of its mold.

To assure that everything went well, Saxco sent its regional manager in Louisville, Kentucky, Larry Coomes, to China on two different occasions. He spent six days there on his first trip and 10 days on a return trip. Additionally, the company retained a Hong Kong quality control firm to assure all specifications were met.

According to Larry Kass, group marketing manager for Heaven Hill Distilleries Inc., the largest independent family-owned distiller and marketer of spirits in the United States, "This Evan Williams super premium bourbon is not to be confused with our regular Evan Williams brand. This is a special single barrel, super premium offering which will be featured one time. It is targeted at serious bourbon lovers and those who want a unique millennium keepsake."

Adding to the commemorative aspect of the product, Kass explains that Heaven Hill Distilleries will place a hand-scribed sticker onto each and every decanter identifying its barreling date and barrel number, as well as the date it was bottled. He also points out that every barrel will provide a subtle difference in taste.
