SAXCO INTERNATIONAL, LLC HELPS MONTGOMERY DISTILLERY, INC. DEVELOP A CREATIVE AND DISTINCTIVE PACKAGE DESIGN FOR ITS NEW WHYTE LAYDIE DRY GIN

Whyte Laydie Dry Gin, a new premium spirit steeped in the family history of Jenny and Ryan Montgomery, founders and co-owners of Montgomery Distillery, Inc., a new micro-distillery in Missoula, Montana, is being introduced to Americas gin lovers.

To help achieve a unique package design commensurate with Whyte Laydies premium smoothness and unique taste, it called upon Saxco International, LLC, of Horsham, PA, and its global resource network to assist with this all important aspect of the Whyte Laydie introduction.  We were challenged to help create an overall design that would not only offer an attractive and distinctive overall appearance, but also would deliver a prominent shelf identification, explains Jimmy Owens, new product representative for Saxco International, who worked closely with Jenny and Ryan Montgomery.

To get its part of the project underway, Saxco sourced and supplied a private mold 750 ML extra flint cosmetic quality book-shaped bottle with a reverse taper, short neck and flat bottom from one of its reliable quality glass suppliers in Asia.  For added prominence, the bottle was manufactured with special embossments on both sides, one identifying Missoula and the other depicting Montana.

In addition, Saxco provided a beautiful black wood top natural cork closure with a special M logo type branded onto the cork.  The closures were sourced through J.C. Ribeiro of Lourosa, Portugal, a long-time quality resource of Saxco International.  The black and silver die-cut pressure sensitive front and back labels and tamper-evident tax stamp which over-fitted the closure were handled by Montgomery Distillery.  We delivered the major components to help create the innovative new package that the distillery was seeking and completed the project within the budget and time parameters that they established, Owens notes.

According to Jenny Montgomery, The Whyte Laydie Dry Gin honors and commemorates an act of wondrous folly. In 1966 my father emptied the family bank account to purchase a dusty banjo for $250, having lost his heart to its haunting sound and turn-of-the-century craftsmanship. Today, the Fairbanks Whyte Laydie No. 7 is a museum piece and a family treasure.  Saluting his sixth sense and derring-do, we went partially mad in our quest to build this harmonious dry gin according to time-honored standards.

We ascended Rocky Mountain slopes to wild-craft mountain juniper and other native botanicals and then compounded these with locally grown and imported ingredients traditional to gin, she explains.  The resulting blend is married with Montanas esteemed grain and water to produce The Whyte Laydie, As lovely a gin as there ever was.

We are targeting male and female gin lovers between the ages of 30 and 55 years, notes Montgomery Distillery cofounder and owner Ryan Montgomery.  His background includes a prior stint with the renowned Springbank Distillery on the Kintyre Peninsula in Scotland, where he studied and learned every step in their time-tested scotch making process.  He additionally relates that Whyte Laydie is 40% alcohol by volume and 80 Proof.  Whyte Laydie Gin is initially being rolled out in Montana through the distillerys onsite store and private retail outlets across the state.  The retail price is $28.00 for the 750 ML size.

The new premium Whyte Laydie Dry Gin is being distilled in the recently opened Montgomery Distillery, the first micro-distillery to be built in Missoula, Montana.  The facility was developed by converting a former 19th century liquor warehouse on Missoula's old saloon row, which later became a garage where whiskey smuggled from Canada was unloaded during Prohibition.
