To step up its promotional efforts for its premium Bombay Sapphire� LC
to America�s and Europe�s finest restaurants, Bacardi USA Inc. developed
a private mold 6-liter display bottle.
�We needed to find a discrete yet innovative way to
promote this upscale brand within the ambiance parameters of white
tablecloth restaurants,� explains Diana Lendian, group promotions manager
for Bacardi Global Brands Promotions Inc. of Miami. �We decided on a
beautiful display bottle to meet those requirements.�
To help bring the project to life, it engaged Saxco
International Inc. of Horsham, Pa., world-wide packaging specialists for the
wine and spirits industry. Saxco sourced and supplied the private mold
6-liter Sapphire glass display bottle from Stolzle-Oberglas of Austria. It
also provided the dark blue plastic caps with printed gold art on the top
and sides from Walsen International of Ronkonkoma, N.J.
Bacardi Global�s in-house creative team designed and
made front and back labels which were supplied to the glass manufacturer for
application. The front label is attractive gold metallic and embossed. The
two side labels which depict the botanical ingredients of Bombay Sapphire LC
gin were made by Stolzle and fired onto the bottle which gave it an
acid-etched appearance.
Lendian states that three-quarters of the special display
bottles would be earmarked for promotional use in the United States, while
the remaining bottles would be for marketing in Europe.
�The challenge was to replicate the 750mnl bottle as
closely as possible, yet retain the attractive, upscale appearance in the
larger display version,� says Keith L. Sachs, chairman of Saxco
International. �We are happy to have played such an important role in this
project.�
