Moving to meet an increased consumer demand for cream liqueur products,
Heaven Hill Distilleries, Inc. of Bardstown, KY has introduced a new Amber
Cream Liqueur as an integral part of its popular Christian Brothers family
of quality spirits.
To assist with some of the major packaging aspects of
this premium blend of finely aged Christian Brothers brandy and fresh, sweet
cream, it engaged Saxco International, Inc. of Horsham, PA world-wide
packaging specialists for the wine and spirits industry.
"Our challenge was to source a private mold, 750ml,
dark amber glass bottle which would meet Heaven Hills requirements for
the product," says Herbert L. Sachs, President of Saxco International.
"After an extensive search with our glass vendors in the United States,
we turned to Beatson Clark, one of our suppliers in the United Kingdom. They
were able to supply a private mold, dark amber bottle which was ultimately
darker than others that were available through U.S. sources. They also were
able to meet the time parameters." The bottle was molded with an
attractive, embossed "CB" wreath cartouche.
Saxco International also supplied a burgundy and gold
capsule closure from Belgium Bottle Cap, another European Saxco vendor,
giving the new Amber Cream bottle the classic Christian Brothers look.
The bottles buff and burgundy label was designed by
Heaven Hills design firm, Keller Crescent of Evansville, IN and was
applied by the distillery in Kentucky. The buff and burgundy label picks up
recognizable elements of the core Christian Brothers package such as the
burgundy logo type banner and the "since 1832 heritage" line,
while incorporating visuals that communicate cream such as a creamy buff
background color augmented by a brandy barrel and cream can.
"At a time when more and more consumers are seeking
out cream-based products, Amber Cream gives retailers an opportunity to
expand cream liqueur sales by attracting new users, both male and female, to
the category," states Susan Overton, Director of Marketing at Heaven
Hill. "The combination of smooth, new alternative to traditional cream
liqueur products and the Christian Brothers quality reputation should add up
to increased sales during the key holiday-selling period, continuing
throughout the year."
Overton also explains that Heaven Hill will roll out its
Christian Brothers Amber Cream Liqueur nationally with a special emphasis on
markets in California, Minnesota, Michigan, New York, Florida and Illinois.
It will retail for an average price of $12.99 for a 750ml bottle.
