To enhance and ramp up its
introductory promotional efforts for the roll-out of its new super premium Tri
Vodka, Bacardi USA Inc. developed a private mold display bottle.
We needed to find a
discrete and innovative way to introduce this unique super premium brand
within the decorative and ambiance parameters of upscale white-tablecloth
restaurants, explains Diana Lendian, group promotions manager for Bacardi
Global Brands Promotions Inc. of Miami. We decided on a beautiful, high-quality display bottle to
help achieve our promotional goals for this new brand which is distilled and
bottled in Estonia.
To help make the project a
reality, it called upon Saxco International Inc. of Horsham, Pa., worldwide
packaging specialists for the wine and spirits industry.
Our challenge was to replicate the Tri 750ML bottle as closely
as we could, delivering the same sophisticated decorative appearance in the
larger version, explains Keith L. Sachs, chairman of Saxco International.
However, to accomplish this we had to get creative, coming up with
solutions which would deliver the overall quality and look, yet stay within
the projects requirements dictated by its limited quantities.
Economic considerations also played an integral role in our
problem-solving process.
Saxco sourced and supplied
the 21-inch high display bottles from Stolzle-Oberglas of Austria, a
long-time Saxco vendor. The
other challenges embraced practical and economic ways to replicate the
appearance of the attractive silver neck sleeves, provide a way to define
and accentuate the original Tri T, and come up with a cap to match
the smaller version.
To meet the requirements,
Saxco came up with the idea of spray painting the neck of the display bottle
silver to match the appearance of the original plastic neck sleeves.
It also provided a molded plastic T to better define and
replicate the Tri T as portrayed on the original 750ML bottle.
Again, because of the projects requirements, Saxco came up with an
aluminum cap which could be produced economically in smaller quantities. It, too, was painted silver to give it the same appearance as
its smaller counterpart. This
is the type of project that brings out the best in our organization,
Sachs comments.
