Dubbed as �totally unique� because it is aged like
no other rum in the world, Todhunter International is refining the packaging
of its popular Cruzan Single Barrel Estate Rum to reflect its great quality
and higher standard of elegance.
To help complete the all-important packaging
requirements and create an appearance normally associated with fine French
cognacs, it elected to use Saxco International Inc. of Horsham, PA.,
worldwide packaging specialists for the wine and spirits industry.
Saxco sourced and supplied private mold flint, textured bottles for the
750ML size of the aged premium dark rum.
The bottles, which also display a cartouche with an embossed schooner
design on its shoulders, were supplied by Vetri Speciali of Italy, a Saxco
vendor.
In addition, Saxco provided a high-quality wood top
cork stopper supplied by J. C. Ribeiro of Portugal, a long-time Saxco
vendor. Todhunter utilized its
in-house capabilities to complete the pressure-sensitive labeling it desired
for the overall antique appearance.
According to Tom Valdez, president of Todhunter
Imports, a division of Todhunter International of West Palm Beach, FL.,
�Cruzan Single Barrel Estate Rum has been handcrafted from a unique blend
of rums aged up to 12 years in St. Croix, Virgin Islands.
In its final stages of maturity, it completes a secondary aging
process in new oak casks that bring out the hidden qualities inherent only
in select new casks of toasted American oak designed exclusively for
Todhunter.�
The aged premium spirit was awarded a �Double Gold� and �Best of
Category� by unanimous vote among all judges and among all other premium
rums at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition, the premier event in
America. The Cruzan Single Barrel Estate Rum sells in retail outlets
for $30 for the 750ML size.
�We felt that our assistance with the packaging not only greatly augmented
the brand identification but also showcased the product as a high-end
premium spirit,� says Keith L. Sachs, chairman of Saxco International.
�In fact,� he notes, �Todhunter was so pleased that they�ve
commissioned us to help produce a 1.75L version.�
