To enhance and enliven the packaging for its premium Bordeaux blend,
Merican, Chaddsford Winery of Chadds Ford, PA., decided to augment its
in-house efforts by calling in Saxco Canada Co., a subsidiary of Saxco
International Inc., worldwide packaging specialists for the wine and spirits
industry.
"Merican is our top-of-the-line premium red wine and the first of
six wines to be introduced in our new Portfolio Collection," states Lee
Miller, co-owner of Chaddsford Winery with her husband, Eric. This
wine is a very small prestigious bottling and we wanted it to look very
special."
To enhance the new wine's roll-out, Saxco Canada sourced and supplied a
heavy 750ml, antique green Krizia bottle from Italy. The attractive
silver, white and gold labels designed by the Star Group in Cherry Hill, NJ,
were silk-screened onto the bottle by Stanpac of Toronto, a long-time Saxco
Canada vendor.
"As with other wines in our Portfolio Collection, Merican will be
sold as 'Futures,' with any remaining cases marketed through our retail
outlets located in the Philadelphia area," explains Miller.
"It is an integral part of our high-end small production
offerings."
