Saxco International Inc. of Horsham, Pa., long time packaging specialists for the wine and spirits industries, today announced the acquisition of the business and assets of Demptos Glass LLC. of Louisville, Ky., and Fairfield, Calif. The newly acquired business will be operated as a division of Saxco under the name Saxco-Demptos.

Demptos Glass provides total packaging development solutions for the liquor industry, as well as domestic and imported bottles for the wine industry. The company has been in operation as Demptos Glass since 1982 and currently employs some 40 people.

In making the announcement, Keith L. Sachs, chairman of Saxco International, stated, �Demptos offers an excellent strategic fit for us in that the company not only greatly strengthens our position in the spirits industry but also provides us a wonderful opportunity to expand deeper into the California wine market.� Demptos currently does business with some 400 wineries located throughout the California area.

Sachs also announced that Saxco�s new division will be headed up by former Demptos Glass COO Rob Belke of Louisville, Ky., who has more than 20 years of experience in sales and marketing of glass for the liquor and wine industries. He will serve as vice president and general manager.

This is the second major acquisition for Saxco International. Three-and-one-half years ago, the company formed Saxco Canada Co. to acquire a major supplier of bottles serving wineries throughout Canada and the United States.
