Rick Silvani, operations manager for California Glass Company of Oakland, Calif., has been appointed interim general manager for Saxco-Demptos of Louisville, Ky., it was announced by Keith L. Sachs, chairman of Saxco International Inc., Horsham, Pa., worldwide packaging specialists for the wine and spirits industry.

Both California Glass Company and Saxco-Demptos are subsidiaries owned and operated by Saxco International.

Silvani joined California Glass Company in his present role in 1979.  It is his family�s business which was founded in 1934 in San Francisco.  Today, California Glass is a major distributor of glass bottles and other containers principally to the wine and beer industries in the western United States.

He joined CalGlass following his graduation from California State University, Sacramento, where he received a bachelor of arts degree in psychology.  He also attended the graduate division of California State University, San Francisco.

In his interim executive role, Silvani will be directly responsible for overseeing the overall day-to-day operations at Saxco-Demptos.

Saxco-Demptos is also an important supplier to the wine industry on the West Coast.  The company�s headquarters is located at 2301 River Road, Suite 101, Louisville, Ky. 40246.  Its West Coast office is located in Fairfield, Calif.
