SAXCO INTERNATIONAL PROVIDES MAJOR INPUT TO PACKAGING

OF WOODFORD'S MASTER'S COLLECTION FOUR GRAIN BOURBON

The Woodford Reserve Distillery, a national historic landmark in Woodford County, Ky., has launched its super premium Masters Collection with the introduction of its limited quantity Four Grain Bourbon.

To help with the major elements of its unique package design, it enlisted the services and global resources of Saxco International Inc. of Horsham, Pa., worldwide packaging specialists for the wine and spirits industry.

Bottled at 92.4 proof, it is the only bourbon in the world distilled in copper pot stills.  Coinciding with the pot still theme, Saxco sourced and supplied a 750-mL flint bottle which mimics a copper pot still from O-I Europe, a long-time Saxco vendor.  The distinctive bottle features round shoulders and a bulb-shaped neck.

Working with Woodford Reserve Distillery, Saxco helped create and produce attractive white, black and copper labels through Heinrich Ceramic Decal in Boston, Mass.  The labels were fired on the front and back of the bottle by Custom Deco in Toledo, Ohio.  Both vendors are part of the vast Saxco International supplier network.

In addition, Saxco provided a rich brown wooden top cork stopper with a special copper medallion inset through long-time vendor J.C. Ribeiro in Portugal.

At $79.99 retail for a 750-mL size, we are targeting the top shelf bourbon connoisseur for this super premium, limited quantity, aged bourbon, explains Wayne Rose, global brand director for the Woodford Reserve Masters Collection.  Already available in Kentucky, Four Grain Bourbon will eventually be rolled out in major markets throughout the United States.

The inspiration for the Masters Collection was drawn from Woodfords rich history.  In the early 1800s, the Woodford Country distillery was the setting for landmark discoveries and innovative practices developed by distillery owner Oscar Pepper and Master Distiller James Crow.  These practices would have a lasting and profound impact on the bourbon industry.  Today, the Woodford Distillery receives more than 60,000 visitors a year and is the only operating distillery in America to triple-distill its bourbon in copper pot stills.  As a new twist, Four Grain Bourbon will incorporate wheat into its mash bill.

We worked side by side with the Woodford people throughout the entire development and packaging process and were able to make a significant contribution to its final result, says Larry Coomes, regional sales representative for Saxco International.
