SAXCO INTERNATIONAL PLAYS AN INTEGRAL ROLE IN PACKAGE DESIGN FOR HEAVEN HILL'S RITTENHOUSE VERY RARE 21 YEAR-OLD SINGLE BARREL STRAIGHT RYE WHISKY

Heaven Hill�s Distilleries, Bardstown, KY, the nation�s largest independent family-owned distiller and second largest holder of aging American whiskeys, has reached deep into the recesses of its Rickhouse OO barrel facility and selected a very limited number of perfect barrels of 21-year-old Rye Whisky which it is bringing to market as Rittenhouse Very Rare 21 Year Old Single Barrel Straight Rye Whisky.

To support the all important packaging aspect of this super-premium aged spirit Heaven Hill engaged the services and global resources of Saxco International, Inc., of Horsham , PA , longtime, worldwide packaging specialists for the wine and spirits industry.

Saxco International sourced and supplied a quality 750-mL flint bottle with a bulb neck from Saverglass in France, one of its prominent vendors in an extensive worldwide network.

In addition, Saxco provided an embossed black wood top cork stopper from J.C. Ribiero, of Portugal , another of its quality sources.  The top embossing displays the verbiage, �21 Year Old Very Rare.�  A black embossed tin capsule overfitted the cork assembly and was completed by Alcan in France , another reliable source of the packaging specialty firm.

Also, Saxco arranged for Serigraphie, of Montreal , Canada to silk screen the graphics on the bottle�s front and back in three vivid colors � gold, black and metallic gold.  Heaven Hill completed the pressure sensitive gold and black paper label on the front of the bottle.

Saxco additionally provided a reflective debossed antique gold neck band from Applic� Etain in France .  The neck band was made from pewter with a gold laminate which delivered the required antique appearance. 

According to Kirstin Jackson, Heaven Hill Distilleries brand manager for Rittenhouse Very Rare 21 Year Old Single Barrel Rye Whisky, �This bold and spicy new spirit with a distinctive nose and smooth lingering finish will be available in limited distribution throughout the United States .  A very small quantity also will be released in the United Kingdom and France .  It will be marketed in a three-bottle case and will retail for $150 per bottle in the United States .�

Each of the barrels of Rittenhouse Very Rare 21 Year Old Single Barrel Rye Whisky, were dumped and bottled without being mingled with other barrels or undergoing chill filtration.  Whereas many whiskeys are chill filtered to remove esters that can form a haze when served over ice, Rittenhouse Very Rare is non-chill filtered, preserving all the natural flavors and mouth feel from the barrel.

�This is a wonderfully challenging project for Saxco International because we were able to showcase our extensive knowledge and broad experience while bringing together an array of quality, dependable vendors from around the world to meet Heaven Hill�s packaging requirements and time parameters,� explains Larry Coomes, regional sales representative for Saxco International.  Coomes worked closely with Jackson to complete the packaging.
